The Abbey House Hotel is situated in fourteen acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, lovingly manicured and cared for by our head gardener, Richard, and his team. The Abbey House Hotel is fortunate to be the only hotel in the immediate area with such a large expanse of grounds and these are ideal for a variety of uses by our guests, including a stunning back drop for wedding photographs, team building events or to erect a marquee for a garden party or a truly memorable wedding reception. Secluded in one corner of the grounds is a large car park with over 80 spaces. The car park is floodlit and is protected by a fully monitored cctv system. We are sure guests will also appreciate a delightful original feature being the turning circle at the front of the main entrance to the hotel, which was used when the building was first built and is still in use today.
In the grounds of the Abbey House Hotel stands the original staff lodge which is now used by the hotel as staff accommodation and is constructed in the same sandstone as the main hotel buildings. The owners have ambitious development plans for the hotel and these inlcude refurbishing the old lodge and coverting it into bespoke accommodation for guests.
Tucked away in the right hand corner of the garden guests will find a gentle pathway which leads down to the famous 11th century Furness Abbey, one of the area's most famous architectural buildings.
